Sølvtrans was established in 1986 with a rebuilt freighter that had a cargo capacity of 208 m3. Today we are the worlds leading provider of crititcal wellboat services for a growing aquaculture industry, and we strive to continue to be the world leader with new deliveries of modern, state of the art, Ronja vessels.

Sustainable Aquaculture

Three out of our five strategic objectives concern the environment. We place a high priority on the safe, gentle, and efficient handling of live fish, whilst safeguarding biodiversity and the natural marine environment we operate in.

Together with our suppliers, we are continuously developing technologies to optimize fish welfare and biosecurity, as well as minimizing fuel consumption and GHG emissions.

With the majority of our fleet built after 2013, we have one of the youngest, most flexible and modern fleets in our industry.

Our Services

Fish welfare is our highest priority, from the design of our vessels to the way we operate them. In combination with a high focus on biosecurity, we achieve aquaculture shipping operations which minimizes potential stress on the fish ensuring a high-quality service being delivered to our clients.

Our vessels are recognized as being innovative and very flexible. They can easily be upgraded by adding more equipment into already prepared areas, both inside sheltered decks or directly onto prepared areas on external decks. They have a high level of technical redundancy to ensure continued operation even in the event of technical issues.

Our vessels maintain the very highest standard, and are Global Gap compliant.

Fish Welfare

Fish welfare is one of our strategic objectives and highest prioritized areas in both our daily operations as well as our long-term goals and strategies.

Our vessels are designed in a way that promote fish welfare. In combination with a strong focus on hygiene, we aim to minimize potential stress on the fish while delivering high-quality products and services to our clients.

We have automatic tracking systems on all our vessels that monitor parameters such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, ammonia, temperature, and pH. It is essential for fish welfare that our staff are trained and have relevant experience with monitoring fish behavior and ensure that a high level of welfare is maintained.

All our vessels also have backup systems that protects the basic needs of the fish in case of a system failure or other unexpected events. To ensure fish welfare, all fish handling and bath treatments are carried out in close collaboration between veterinarians and our crew members.

Working On a Wellboat

Life on a wellboat is varied as well as challenging. In addition to normal operation of the vessel, the job also includes handling live animals in a secure, careful and effective manner.

OUR STORY

For more than a century our nets and long lines have helped fishermen bring food to people across the globe. We are rooted in the local communities we serve, but also have a global perspective. Since our start as a small fishing gear supplier in Norway, we have expanded to a growing number of markets – from Iceland to Spain to North America, and China. And with service stations along the world’s coasts, we are right where our customers need us.

At a time of rapid climate change and growing populations, we are setting new industry standards to sustainably harvest food from the sea. From catching fish in the sea to cultivating them in clean ocean environments, our solutions ensure safe and efficient operations. We offer new research, ideas and data systems to give fresh insight and control over technical processes. Extending our reach, we also provide seismic towing solutions for the wider marine industry.

Mørenot is playing a key role in an extensive environmental project: The world’s largest cleanup!

Mørenot is engaged in one of the most pressing environmental problems of our age, and is now developing a 2.5-km-long ocean cleanup system with one objective: ridding the world’s oceans of plastic. This will be done in cooperation with the Dutch non-profit organization The Ocean Cleanup. Together they have developed a prototype in 2021 that proved to be a huge success and has already collected large amounts of plastic in the Pacific Ocean. A new, improved version is now under development and Mørenot was again the chosen supplier for this important project, which has been given the name ‘System 03’. SUSTAINABILITY

As an actor in an industry depending on the oceans, we have a responsibility. Mørenot shall be a leading force in developing solutions for sustainable harvest of the ocean’s resources.

SUSTAINABLE AND CIRCULAR SOLUTIONS

We want to be a leading force in the development of solutions that contributes to a circular economy and sustainable harvest of the oceans. We approach this challenge from two different angles. We have initiated a project to map the CO2 footprint of our existing products. At the same time, we shall develop brand new solutions, such as Mørenot Collect and CATCH Linetech.

CLIMATE AND RESOURCE EFFICIENT PRODUCTION

We shall understand the climate impact of our operations and strive to reduce it. Today Mørenot reports on emissions directly controlled by the company (Scope 1) and indirect climate emissions related to purchased energy (Scope 2). At the same time, we are searching for initiatives to reduce our own climate emissions. One important initiative for us has been the development of a drying system for service of aquaculture nets based on electricity and heat recovery.

Norconsult offers multi-disciplinary engineering assistance for all types of aquaculture facilities, from traditional open pens, ocean-going steel facilities, to land-based facilities for smolt as well as slaughterhouses.

The expertise ranges from technical analyses to daily operations at the site/plant. In addition, we have leading expertise on closed-containment pens at sea and all type of structural calculations
related to these.

This enables firm expertise in most disciplines necessary for the initiation, planning and implementation of projects in the fisheries & aquaculture industry. From concept development, through regulatory and applications, pre- and detailed projects to fully approved and commissioned facilities, in addition to optimization of all or parts of the
facility, also related to requirements from authorities, including taxonomy. Based on our extensive experience, Norconsult has built up a solid foundation as a leading player both nationally and
internationally when it comes to multi-disciplinary advice.

Our relevant experience on sustainability is based on both environmental and process technical principles and includes all relevant parts of a classification of environmental status both on land and in or on water, treatment solutions according to regulations, as well as knowledge of the EU taxonomy.

Norconsult is in a unique position to support our customers with advice in all phases of a landbased aquaculture project. Norconsult’ s solid expertise, combined with our industrial consultancy expertise, enables us to offer a customer interface for most things that are in demand in a project within fisheries, aquaculture, with a strong focus on the needs of the environment. Extending the Ocean Potential™

Salmon Evolution® is a Norwegian land-based salmon farming company extending the ocean’s potential by transferring the best conditions offered by the sea, to farm fish on land. Controlled growth conditions allow us to eliminate the challenges associated with conventional fish farming. Most importantly we improve fish welfare while reducing the impact on our shared planet.

By 2032, our total annual land-based production capacity for salmon will be 100 000 tonnes worldwide. That corresponds to 345 million meals of sustainable protein a year.

Taking the seafood industry into the future

Salmon Evolution was founded in 2017 by a group of visionary pioneers with long experience from the seafood industry.

The goal was to develop a concept with a potential of becoming a beacon for sustainable salmon farming.

Today, we are well on our way to living this vision by securing proof of concept for our innovative technology in Norway.

Our flagship grow out facility

Salmon Evolution’s first production facility is strategically located at Indre Harøy on the Norwegian west coast, which boasts unlimited access to fresh seawater, renewable energy, established infrastructure, and an educated and experienced workforce.

The Indre Harøy facility has been designed for a total annual production capacity of 31,500 tonnes Head-on gutted salmon from its completion in 2028. It is being developed in three phases, with phase one providing an annual production capacity of 7,900 tonnes Head-on gutted salmon from 2023. Phase 2 will add another 7,900 tonnes, with construction planned to start in 2023.

The final phase 3, will take total production to 31,500 tonnes.

Fully developed, the Indre Harøy facility will have an annual capacity of 31,500 tonnes of HOG salmon.

Combining the benefits of both traditional and land-based aquaculture

Salmon Evolution is a first mover in utilizing the hybrid flow-through system (HFS) to farm salmon on land. Our choice of technology is based on substantial supplies of fresh seawater and a sincere desire to ensure the best possible water quality for our salmon. Utilising the HFS technology minimises the operational and biological risk of farming salmon on land. It ensures controlled and optimal growth conditions, eliminates the risk of sea lice, parasites, and limits the threat of infection.

Global expansion

Salmon Evolution has always had global ambitions, and we are now working to extend our potential to new regions.

Together with our joint venture partner, seafood giant Dongwon Industries, we will develop, construct and operate land-based salmon farming facilities in South Korea based on the very same principles as in Norway.

We have also initiated a process aimed at establishing a land-based salmon farming operation in North America.

In this way, we will reach our goal of producing 100 000 tonnes of fish annually by 2032, bringing high-quality and responsibly-farmed salmon closer to our customers.

All our operations are planned to give the salmon a first-class journey. OUR SERVICES

TRANSPORT

Our shipping company offers transport of salmon smolt, salmon and trout. With large vessels, the ecological footprint is reduced and unnecessary handling is avoided. Long experience lies behind the implementation of the operations and the human assessments that are carried out. Our employees follow all requirements and regulations, and we take good care of the fish. In this way, we also satisfy the expectations that both our customers and salmon eaters have of us.

SORTING

Sorted and even fish grow better than unsorted ones, and can reduce the risk of disease and improve health in the cage. If it is sorted at slaughter, the smallest fish can be returned to the bill and slaughtered in a few months. This allows the fish to reach the correct weight before being harvested.

FLEET

Our fleet consists of 18 vessels. Among other things, we have the world’s first hybrid wellboat and the world’s first wellboat with thermal treatment equipment. In Rostein, we use innovation and technology for the good of the fish’s welfare and tomorrow’s footprint. All of our vessels are 100% Norwegian-built and our operations have major beneficial effects on society.
